In the mid Noughties Anna Kalnars had just completed the total refurbishment of a small detached cottage in Salcombe, and was profiled in The Telegraph's Homebuilding and Renovating magazine, December 2005: 'A New Lease of Life: Transforming a Period House'.
This first taste of designing and renovating a building whetted an appetite to find out more about the industry. At the time, she was teaching part-time at South Devon College, and she discovered the college was offering a practical Foundation Degree in Interior Design through Plymouth University, so she went back to study and gain a rare Distinction.
making any alterations to your home can be daunting. You will need to constantly balance a workforce of people, budgets, schedules and time constraints with the design outcome you want to achieve. Anna appreciates the need to plan and organise for success, having herself managed productions & budgets in the creative TV industry. She set up her design consultancy - Infinite Design Devon - offering a professional design service to help busy people achieve their dreams with residential refurbishment and renovation projects.
She combines creative and practical skills, has first degrees in Law & Human Resources, and worked for a number of years in management & television production with the BBC in London. While on a sub-aqua diving trip in Salcombe, she decided to plan a move away from the city. Her first job in the region was as the South West's first film commissioner, establishing the region as a successful film base for TV and feature films such as Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson & Hugh Grant.
Anna continues to run her design consultancy Infinite Design Devon, and also works in collaboration with Kingsbridge RIBA practice Andrew Lethbridge Associates.
Her work with Infinite Design Devon has been recognised across the years with a series of awards, including BUILD Best Interior Architecture and inclusion in The Telegraph list of Top Twenty UK Interior Designers.
